Well, the festival is over, now I am just chilling out in JLP. I have been doing a lot of writing for me classes, which are very interesting. From our classroom you can see the Med and the Alps (on a clear day), and it's so difficult to pay attention! I just keep looking outside.

I just spent the weekend in Italy. We had Friday off from class, so five girls and I got on a train to Cinque Terra, Italy. I know I am overdramatic sometimes and say "This was the best Friday ever" or "That is insane" or use other very strong adjectives. However, this area of Italy was the most beautiful place I have seen with my eyes. My pictures don't do it justice. The area is comprised of five villages at various elevations along this coastline full of cliffs and vinyards. The hike was pretty difficult between the first two villages, but it was worth it. This is one of the most rewarding things I have ever done.

The water on the coast here was clear... you could see all the rocks at the bottom from the tops of the mountains. The trails were narrow and seemed to be so much older than anything in the states. I can't even explain to you what it felt like to be outside in these mountains. I felt so far away from now. It was a new feeling...

Anyway, enjoy the pics. Let me know how you guys are doing. I miss you guys- i miss home. I still have more to learn here for a while. Back June 22nd....

Ok, so I will try to update quickly, as internet is limited here.

New happenings:

-WENT TO STAR WARS PREMIERE!! AHHHHH!!

-Saw a movie yesterday that is definitely worth the time- "Three Burials..." directed by Tommy Lee Jones. He was at the premiere, and so was Morgan Freeman and Barry Pepper. Excellent film. Weird but good

-Got really homesick yesterday. Watched "The Last Waltz" on the beach, Martin Scorcese film about The Band. Guest artists Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Joni Mitchell, Van the Man, etc etc. The music was so like home, I got a little teary eyed. First time I have really been homesick so far. I miss you guys!

-Obsessed with Nutella and baguettes. Ahhhhhhh yummm. Also, still obsessed with coke. Was going to switch to wine but I like coke better.

-Went to a party in Cannes for some production company the other day- so much fun. Right on the beach in Cannes and everyone from my group went basically.

-Laura and Megan have been here with me for like a week. It's awesome, we are having so much fun but they leave tomorrow :(

-I can't believe only a couple more weeks left in the program! Time feels so weird right now; I feel like I have known these people forever, but I've only been here for a couple of weeks.

Ok, I miss you guys a lot. Email me some more, and thanks for all the emails so far! Love you guys!

So far I have:

-Been to three movie premieres
-Eaten at least three loaves of french bread
-Spoken to Cuba Gooding, Jr.
-Been in the same room with Salma Hayek, Kevin Bacon, Colin Firth, and others.
-Been to a press conference
-Met with a director
-Asked to go "yachting"
-Fallen in love with Magnum ice cream bars
-Learned how to appreciate a good pair of shoes... for walking
-Learned to appreciate a good burger and fries
-Eaten all my gummy bears almost
-Snuck into a marketing convention for movies from around the world
-Been creeped out by scary foreign guys
-NOT GOTTEN ANY EMAILS!! GOOAHHHHHH. Except my mom, Lindsey, John, Knox, and Fred Mills. You guys need to get on the ball. Fred Mills emailed me, and you can't!?!?!? I am sad. mbmartin@uga.edu

Ok, i wish I could post a picture for you guys. I have to go write a movie review before trying to get into star wars tonight, so I will try to write more soon. I MISS YOU GUYS!!!!!!!!!!

France is amzing and gorgeous and everything here is delicious. Except I think I ordered a pizza this week with eel on it... gross!!!

But the Mediterranean is so blue, and the weather has been sunny and not too hot and not too cold. Today is the first day of the Cannes film festival, and I cannot wait! A few of us took a train there (8 min. ride) to check it out last night while they were setting everything up. So much energy there!

I am getting better at my francais; some people can actually understand what I am saying!

Wow. Well, it's about 6 AM. I've been studying, cleaning, organizing, and packing all night and I haven't gone to sleep yet. It's a good thing I had a nap this afternoon. Hopefully I will make it through my final. Right now I don't feel too tired, but I imagine it's going to hit me pretty soon.

I am going to miss you guys so much!! I was a little sad tonight when I left Dan's house, because I don't get to celebrate the end of finals with everyone. Tonight was the last time for a few months that I get to hang out with everyone! :(

So, my normal phone isn't going to be on for the first few weeks I am away, BUT.... my program gives me a cell phone to use while i am in france. CALL ME!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I'm getting scared. I have been so excited about this for so long and now it's starting to feel a little bit real. France. Riviera. Cannes. FRIDAY. So i guess that's just about four days left. So much to do and so many people I want to see before I leave!

SPED class is over. I have one take-home final for that class, then it is out of my life forever.

My mom is coming tomorrow to help me get everything ready, go shopping with me, hang out with me before I leave! I am excited.

Where did all my days go? And my nights too, now that I think about it.

I am so glad Lindsey came to see me last night! I am going to miss her this summer, and next semester when she is in Mexico! We are just two crazy travellin ladies.

I hope to just completely live in the moment for the next two months. No thoughts of the past or what I am going to end up doing in my life. In fact, I need so much to just get away. See myself outside of UGA. That's going to be awesome. Man. I'm ready.
