Dear John Mayer,

I was wondering if you were aware that Macy's plays your music in the women's department. You know I am a fan, but apparently so are the same people that like muzak. Just thought you should know.

Love always,
Molly

dear molly,
thanks for your letter. fyi, i signed a contract with macy's allowing them to play my music in the women's departments and dressing rooms of their numerous shops across the country. apparently they feel that my songs help women get undressed. or perhaps dressed, i'm not sure. either way, i'm making money like crazy, so what the hell do i care. i can sit on my ass the rest of my life and coast, and maybe show up once a year at a boat show or a vh1 reunion or state fair and make enough to pay the light bill for a decade. anyway, hope to see you at one of those events very soon.

love,
john m.

it's been my opinion since the first time i heard John Mayer that he's a bit of an elevator musician. But I think you know that.

Kyle,
How can you speak badly of JM, when it's obvious that he reads and replies to this blog? Are you "making money like crazy?" NO! SO YOU DON'T KNOW!

Mayer has a sense of humor. I don't think he'd mind that much. One time I saw him in a bear suit making fun of his own music. I do like the direction he's going - more blues-rock than soft pop-rock - and overall I'd have to say that I think he's a pretty decent dude. Just not my personal music preference.

well, i heard from an old roommate of mine that one of his current roommate's brother's friends went out with an old girlfriend of john mayer's cousin's brother, and he said that john mayer buys black-market babies and eats them for breakfast, ground up and sprinkled over frosted mini-wheats. or sometimes kashi, because he's nature-conscious like that.

and he wouldn't lie to me. must be true.

(oh, and nice man-law commercial reference, chris...)
